After his boss/work Orfeo 9 in 1974 Tito Schipa gives birth to his first purely singer-songwriter album: Io ed io solo, un lavoro
too often underestimated.
Side A contains 5 songs by a great singer-songwriter, sensitive and poignant, musically extremely bare and minimalist; the particular voice, sometimes deliberately ungraceful, of the author is striking, which therefore makes us think of a good work by a valid songwriter but nothing more. And on side B the unexpected arrives: a long suite that occupies the entire side of the disc, dedicated to Alberto D. and Myriam G., where the musicians who participate in the album finally emerge in the first place: Fabio Liberatori (later with the Stadio collaborator of Dalla, De Gregori and appreciated author of soundtracks), Nicola Di Staso (Libra), Walter Martino (Goblin) and then Shel Shapiro, Claudio Barbera, Ruggero Stefani, Tito Schipa himself; here the phrasing
musical performances and the same virtuosity have a function not only, as before, of accompaniment, but mark the various moments with much more refined arrangements, and the same voice becomes less monotonous and monotonous, enriching itself with an interpretativity totally absent in the first part of the disc. In short, wanting to be facetious we could say “Two albums in one”!!!
