The ninth album of the legendary guitarist: his unique flatpicking between blues, progressive, South America and the Far East, with special guest Silvana Aliotta and Beppe Crovella.
One year after his comeback with Preludio ad una nuova alba, Marcello Capra releases this new album, the ninth in a long and fascinating career, entitled Threads of Time. Produced once again by Electromantic Music and presented with great success at the XVIII Convention ADGPA on June 26, Fili del tempo is a work that travels between past and future, tributes, remakes, and intriguing new memories.
Ten tracks that cross diverse and fascinating atmospheres, including recollections of ’60s blues, acoustic meditations and outlooks to the music of the world. As the guitarist says, “A little like the adventure writer Salgari, I think I have a lot of imagination: it just takes a picture to “travel” in music there are no space/time barriers, these places fascinate me. Also, artists such as Shankar, Piazzolla, Gismonti and others less known are a source of inspiration to me; what’s better than to be lulled by the sounds and harmonies of faraway? “.
Unlike as in previous albums, in which Marcello alone explored the possibilities of his flatpicking, this time he decided to work alongside with two great guests: a beautiful Silvana Aliotta, unforgotten singer of Circus2000 (among the first Italian prog rock bands of the 70s), with her warm vibrant vocals, and Beppe Crovella, famous keyboardist and producer of Arti & Mestieri, who has added his unmistakable touch to the ivory keys. In tracks such as fabulous Dreaming Of Tinder, Irio and a spirited cover of I’m So Glad, the trio is close-knit and compelling.
If the spirit of this albums is to rewind time, memories and desires to give space, Marcello takes a trip of great inspiration: he pays homage with a medley dedicated to his former band Procession’s album Frontier (1972), then is inspired by Astor Piazzolla and Irio De Paula; he features new songs like Stand By, the title track and the touching Un sogno lucido, dedicated to his grandparents, opera singers around Europe in the ’20s and ’30s. A haunting album from an artist always full of pathos and expressiveness.
