UN UOMO A META’, aka A HOMME A’ MOITIE, is a drama movie directed by Vittorio De Seta in 1966 and is played by Jacques Perrin, Lea Padovani, Occhini Ilaria Gianni Garko, Rosemarie Dexter, Pier Paolo Capponi, Francesca De Silk, Kitty Swan, Ivan Rassimov, Renato Montalbano, Anny Degli Uberti. Coppa Volpi (Volpi Cup) for Jacques Perrin at the XXVII Venice Film Festival of 1966. A young man, Michael (Perrin), wanders in the woods meeting happy people, men and women who understand each other that desire and love each other: something he no longer is experiencing. His ambiguous wanderings drawn upon him suspicions and even persecutions. His friend Ugo (Capponi) takes care of him and takes him to a clinic for a series of treatments, but to no avail. Michael, recalling his memories, is betrayed by his last love Elena (Occhini), but he thinks of the past in which perhaps is the secret of his emptiness. He sees, in fantasy, his miserable childhood and suffers again for the misunderstanding on the part of the austere and selfish mother (Padovani) and of the arrogant young brother (Garko). Recalls his ineptitude to Marina (Dexter), who gives herself to his brother under his eyes. He remembers the lifeless body of his brother after the motorcycle accident that took his life. The last image that lives in his imagination seems to finally to give him a little light and hope. For this story of loneliness and madness of the mind, Ennio Morricone has succeeded to admirably represent all of the emotional state of the protagonist with little but effective contemporary type music that creates a sense of anguish intentionally disturbing, yet fascinating. The composer assembled a suite of takes, which was titled REQUIEM PER UN DESTINO, for orchestra and choir, which was published with mono sound as a promotional double-LP (GM General Music 33/01-1 33/02-2) which was later reissued on CD (RCA Records OST 136). For this deluxe edition we used the master tapes version in full stereo of the recording sessions, newly discovered, which enabled us to publish REQUIEM PER UN DESTINO (23:08) for the first time ever in full stereo. With the consent of Maestro Morricone we added a bonus track from the concert suite in mono, remastered and restored, VENUTA DAL MARE (14:35) from ECCE HOMO – I SOPRAVVISSUTI. This CD (TT 37:51) extremely refined with regard to the Concrete style music of Ennio Morricone applied to the screen, which clearly shows the great versatility of the composer.
