SE PERMETTE PARLIAMO DI DONNE (aka LET’S TALK ABOUT WOMEN – PARLONS FEMMES) is a movie divided in nine episodes directed in 1964 by Ettore Scola and starring Vittorio Gassman, Antonella Lualdi, Giovanna Ralli, Eleonora Rossi Drago, Sylva Koscina, Walter Chiari, Attilio Dottesio, Emma Baron, Dante Maggio, Marco Tulli, Riccardo Garrone, Maria Fiore, Donatella Mauro, Enzo Maggio, Mario Brega, Umberto D’Orsi, Gigi Proietti. Episode 1: a Sicilian girl indulges herself to a guy, because she was scared seeing the man armed with a shotgun, but in reality the guy was just returning the shotgun to her husband. Episode 2: Alvaro, a public employee, makes lots of jokes and gags with his colleagues, friends and neighbors, but at home, with his wife and son, he turns himself into a severe prig. Episode 3: a girlfriend, never satisfied with the place chosen by her partner, makes him become crazy, vainly seeking a little privacy. Episode 4: a trader does not understand that the wife of an old school mate, is a prostitute with the consent of her husband. Episode 5: A woman hurries to her lover because she is late for their wedding. Episode 6: a womanizer struggles to make his point. Episode 7: a moralist is converted to the licentiousness of the seducer of his sister. Episode 8: a rich and bored lady lures a rag-picker to persuade him to go into her house. Episode 9: the wife of a prisoner receives an award license for her husband and so to attribute him the child she is bearing in her womb. It is the debut of Ettore Scola and the beginning of his long and prestigious collaboration with Armando Trovajoli (up to GENTE DI ROMA in 2003). Qualities (few) and faults (many) of the Italian male belonging to any social class in his romantic relationship with women. Maestro Trovajoli was able to represent in music the reality of the scenes described in the nine episodes, by composing themes in many styles like easy jazz, swing, blues and twist dance floor tunes, as background to the scenes of modern life, alternated to an epic theme with western flavor for harmonica and symphonic orchestra for episode 1, located in the rural areas of Sicily, that recall some natural landscapes of the Spaghetti Western. The score has been enriched by the brilliant dance floor theme song of the opening and closing titles, sung by Michele. This CD contains the OST issued in its complete form for the first time ever, using the mono master tapes of the original session properly restored and re-mastered in digital.
