After the splendid pair of collections with texts by English romantic poets Monjoie band returns to writing in Italian with this album that carries within itself the many influences – folk, wave declined dream-dark, prog – by now natural part of the baggage of the five experienced musicians, and certainly escapes a precise location.
Dozens of instruments used (violin and chalumeau guests in two pieces) in smooth harmony for 10 songs that they lead from atmospheric lucubration, to vision, to immediate melodic appeal.
The spaces created by rhythmic and measured textures are inhabited by singing which, emphatic but equally guarded, sadly regrets a place of the first but perhaps for the first time with the optimistic faith in a beyond – memory? Being? The dream? Crossroads of existence? – where everything comes back to console us, to keep us company.
Can not be done scream at the same waterfall … ash falls from the world … but there is a universal smile … the circus returns to town … Ok, many friends will not be able to come … Ok, there will be the wishes of the children. And we will be amazed again. (Marco Tosi)
