Delirium were formed in 1970 in Genoa from the ashes of the beat group I Sagittari, and debuted the following year with their first 45rpm “Canto di Osanna”, which immediately attracted the attention of critics and public alike.
In 1971, they eventually released their first full-length “Dolce Acqua”, an album with wonderful atmospheres that exceptionally presents itself already from an iconographic point of view, with a three-panel gatefold cover and a visionary painting that is one of the most memorable in the Italian progressive rock scene.
Musically, the album shows an admirable maturity in composition and arrangements, combining acoustic passages with jazzy interludes and Ivano Fossati’s flute phrasing, here the true artistic and spiritual leader of the group, who unfortunately would shortly abandon the band to pursue a solo career.
Yet another Italian progressive gem, reissued on CD jewelcase format.
