They say that “Searching for a Land”, released in 1972, was the first Italian double LP ever; undoubtedly, among the many others that saw the light of day in those years, it was also one of the very best: 12 tracks spread over 4 sides, two of which were recorded in the studio and two live, often delivering an excellent and energetic blues/hard rock, with various captivating keyboards and electric guitar improvised sections.
A daring statement from the band who, on the one hand tried to exploit the success of the previous “Concerto Grosso per i New Trolls”, their popular encounter between rock and symphonic music arranged by Luis Bacalov, and on the other hand did so in a totally unexpected manner, with a predominantly instrumental double album that highlights in no uncertain terms why New Trolls have been of the most important groups ever in the history of Italian rock – progressive and otherwise. Essential!
