Vi suoniamo una Storia is the live album that recounts the musical and personal encounter between Carmine Capasso (formerly of The Trip), vocals and guitar, and Giorgio Fico Piazza (formerly of PFM), a historic bassist of Italian prog. The album was produced by Carmine himself and released on CD via Ma.Ra.Cash Records.
Recorded during the 2024–2026 tour that spanned Italy from north to south, the work is a sonic snapshot of an unfiltered concert: direct, intense, and free of overdubs. On stage with Capasso and Fico Piazza: Piero Chiefa on bass and rhythm guitar, Jacopo Casadio on drums and backing vocals, and Giuseppe “Sep” Sarno on piano and Hammond.
The repertoire is a journey through progressive rock from the 1970s to the present. It begins with previously unreleased songs by Carmine Capasso, some from Assenza di Gravità and Enigma, a song the artist composed for his former band The Trip. Monnalisa also pays homage to Ivan Graziani. The heart of the project is the musical history of Giorgio Fico Piazza, celebrated for his 80th birthday: from his early days with youth bands to his collaboration with Lucio Battisti, including tributes to King Crimson and Emerson, Lake & Palmer.
Piazza was the longtime bassist for Premiata Forneria Marconi and recorded the band’s first three albums with them. His bass is featured on iconic songs such as “Impressioni di settembre,” “È festa,” “La carrozza di Hans,” “Il banchetto,” and many others. The album closes with PFM classics, sealing the link between the past and present of Italian prog.
Capasso is a singer-songwriter and guitarist, formerly a member of The Trip. As a soloist, he combines singer-songwriter style with progressive rock. He was recently named by Lino Vairetti, leader of Osanna, as a new representative of Napule’s Power, the musical movement born in Southern Italy that has featured artists such as Pino Daniele, Osanna, Balletto di Bronzo, Napoli Centrale, Edoardo Bennato, and many others.
