Fabrizio Bosso, Paola Folli and Lorenzo Cimino are the special guests of the fourth album – also on vinyl – of the Milanese quartet, the flagship of Luminol Records. A spiritual journey through progressive, jazz and fusion for a band with an international scope, which relaunches the idea of music as an antidote to homologation Delta: freedom of expression and great music for Ujig!
Luminol Records is pleased to publish Delta, the new album by Ujig. The flagship of the label for their charismatic personality and their international sound, Ujig are back three years after Ujigami with Delta, the fourth album embellished by the extraordinary participation of three giants of Italian music such as Fabrizio Bosso, Paola Folli and Lorenzo Cimino. Once again straddling contemporary jazz, fusion eclecticism and progressive refinement, the Milanese quartet created Delta in two sessions in July, August and November 2024, but the seven tracks that compose it have a significant history in the group’s journey, as they date back to the day after the recording of Ujigami, in 2021.
Animated by an irrepressible expressive urgency, Delta represents an artistic and conceptual evolution for the band, always in search of new sound experiments and deep, humanistic meanings. In this regard, Ujig state: “We believe that one of the main purposes of music, in addition to supporting spirituality, is to share emotions and ideas and offer different perspectives between beings who share the same space and time. Delta was born from the awareness that the contemporary world is making man increasingly a slave to numbers. The value of things and men is assimilated to the numbers it generates, whether it’s the bank account, or the number of an artist’s streams. Music gives us the opportunity to be free to play with numbers, as we should do in our everyday lives”.
Delta completes the research and refinement work that Konstantin Kräutler (drums), Edoardo Maggioni (keyboards), Marco Leo (guitars) and Cesare Pizzetti (bass) have undertaken over the last ten years, since the birth and creation of the first album 8 out of 8. Today more than ever, Ujig stand out for a unique fusion of progressive jazz, electronic contaminations and bold improvisations, with the trumpet of Fabrizio Bosso (in All The Things It Is and Sema Beyaz) and Lorenzo Cimino (Deedoo) and the voice of Paola Folli (Sema Beyaz) that add class and depth to the compositions. Each song is a sound journey that reflects the group’s philosophy: breaking the mold, exploring new dimensions and challenging conventions. And above all, valorizing differences, the band claims: “The Delta is the symbol of difference in mathematics. Difference is the uniqueness of every human being, Difference and one’s uniqueness are a wealth and a treasure that must be preserved and defended in a world that tends more and more towards homologation”.
