FIRST EVER VINYL REISSUE OF AN ESSENTIAL
ITALIAN AND INTERNATIONAL MUSIC MASTERPIECE!
“Il Grande Esploratore” is one of the highest artistic peaks ever for Tony Esposito, a percussionist who grew up alongside high-level musicians such as Pino Daniele, Alan Sorrenti and James Senese; in the early 1980s he skillfully combined Mediterranean and Neapolitan sound sensations with electronic, ethnic, afrobeat and world music. The result has reached everyone’s eyes – and, especially, ears – since then.
Clearly, “Kalimba De Luna” is the stand-out gem among the tracks on “Il Grande Esploratore”, released in 1984 and incredibly… never officially reissued on vinyl until today! The rediscovery process of this essential album in the history of Italian music – and beyond – is finally possible thanks to Cinevox Record, which has personally involved Tony Esposito himself in the creation of a special edition of this evergreen opus.
As an Italian testimonial for the Darfur (Sudan) peace campaign for more than 10 years, Tony Esposito has been awarded the “Books for Peace” recognition by Unesco in 2024: this is the special occasion from which this initiative was born, made even more special by the bonus track “Harmónia” and two additional contributions by Tony Esposito himself, who also wrote the inner sleeve liner notes for this reissue and the “For Peace” silk-screen print exclusively included in this release.
Black vinyl edition with inner sleeve and 26x30cm silk-screen print made by Tony Esposito.
