Old Rock City Orchestra was formed in 2009 in Orvieto (Italy) by Cinzia Catalucci (vocals and keyboards) and Raffaele Spanetta (guitars). After common musical experiences in other bands they had an idea to create rock songs with progressive, psychedelic, and classical overtones. Giacomo Cocchiara (bass guitar) and Michele “Mike” Capriolo(drums) joined the band and completed the final lineup.
The group has performed at numerous important events and many Italian pubs and clubs. In 2010 the band recorded their first promo at Doremilla Studio (Perugia, Italy). This work involved important classical musicians like the Maestro Laurence Cocchiara, eclectic violinist and special guest during the Old Rock City Orchestra live shows, who has also been working for many years in the Italian independent rock scene.
In 2011 Arlequins, the progressive rock webzine, reviewed their promo and many radios broadcasted it. In the same year Aural Moon Radio played the full promo during New Moon on Monday, the show about brand new progressive rock albums.
Old Rock City Orchestra completed their first music project recording four new songs and finally the band has also been mentioned on Rock Progressivo Italiano. An introduction to Italian Progressive Rock, a book about Italian Prog Scene by Andrea Parentin.
