The Roman band Quella Vecchia Locanda’s self-titled debut album, originally released in 1972- and followed by the second and final LP “Il tempo della gioia” in 1974- still sounds excellent today.
The beautiful illustration on the cover immediately identifies its musical genre: Italian progressive rock, here expressed at the highest level thanks to the presence of musical instruments such as flute and violin, whose melodies often intertwine with those of the guitar, within compositions that are at the same time articulate and flowing. A solid and varied album, also featuring classical music and jazz
contaminations, among the least known but undoubtedly one the best released in that wonderful 1972!
