INTRODUCTION TO SAAR RECORDS LABELS: CELSON & MUSIC
Walter Guertler & Ernest Guertler founded CELSON and entrusted the distribution to CGD Messaggerie Musicali. The label was active until 1951 with the exception of a 1959 publication (Chet Baker Sing & Plays). In Italy CELSON has given considerable impetus to the diffusion of Jazz, of all genres: New Orleans, Dixieland, Swing, Revival and Bepop, spreading the fame of legendary Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Don Byas, Errol Garner, Dexter Gordon, Coleman Hawkins and many others.
In 1951, Walter and Ernest set up SOC. GURTLER & CO and found the label MUSIC (Via S. Vittore 40, Milan, Italy). In addition to the program prepared by CELSON, they produce local jazz groups and have some Italian artists record (Pippo Starnazza, Pier Emilio Bassi, etc,). The same year, MUSIC replaces CELSON with the collaboration of the masters EZIO LEONI and GIULIO LIBANO, Italian jazz artists are promoted and a program of pop music in line with the times is launched.
