Formed by Howard Newcomb (guitar, vocals), John Roy Tebb (organ, vocals), Alan Taylor (bass, flute, vocals), Michael Bray and Rob O’Brien (drums), Ian Bruce Good (guitar, harmonica) and Steve Wallace (bass), the band began playing in the clubs of Liverpool in the ’60s. In 1966 The Casuals flied to Italy, where they signed a contract with CBS and later with the SAAR Records company label Jolly Joker. With Jolly they released some Italian-sung singles and in 1968 the anthology album “Hour World”.
In 1968 they achieved their biggest success in the European charts with the single “Jesamine”; among other Italian recordings, we have to mention the Italian version of Bee Gee’s “Massachusetts”. In 1969 SAAR Records and The Casuals participated at the 19th Sanremo Festival with the song “Alla fine della strada”, performed in partnership with Junior Magli. After the dissolution of the group, Alan Taylor continued his musical career with new groups as Ping Pong, followed by Bulldog and Barbados Climax. In 1978 he contributed as a SAAR producer to the launch of Vasco Rossi and as co-author of the song “Albachiara”.
