The new album by Mappe Nootiche: “Cieli Sotterranei – la stanza di Mandelbrot”. Second studio album for the band Mappe Nootiche, a kaleidoscope of sounds and atmospheres that sail to distant but benevolent lands. Recorded at Electromantic studios and supervised by Beppe Crovella (Arti & Mestieri), this new album confirms the quality of the band’s dilated sound, that we are already familiar with since their debut “Terra”. “Cieli Sotterranei – la stanza di Mandelbrot” is a restful, dreamy, ethereal, album, bordering space rock; this new album of Maps, with its ambient sounds is addressed primarily to all fans of artists like Pink Floyd, Ash Ra Tempel, Ozric Tentacles, Vangelis and Mike Oldfield. “Cieli Sotterranei – la stanza di Mandelbrot” is dedicated to the memory of Benoit Mandelbrot, a mathematician known for his work on fractal geometry: this is the key to understanding the meaning of the subtitle of the disc, but at the same time it’s how we can try to define the sound of Mappe Nootiche: fractal music. The album starts with the track Fratelli d’Italia, with a tipically Floydian intro and a thundering final; Ahimsa is a hug, a ballad enhanced by the voice of Mahatma Gandhi in the background to seal the atmosphere; it goes on with Cieli Sotterranei and after 7 minutes of progression it turns towards Terra, a landing, the metaphor of being able to see the land after a voyage at sea. There’s no hurry, and the songs follow each other calmly: the sound environment is striking, and leads the listener to close his eyes and open those of imagination. This leads to La stanza di Mandelbrot, a 20 minutes suite focused on a bass-piano duet enriched with emotional intensity and a chorus final of the whole band. The album ends with a reprise version of Cieli Sotterranei for a total time of one hour of poignant progressive rock music .<\/p>\n

Secondo disco in studio per la band lombarda Mappe Nootiche, Cieli Sotterranei e’ un caleidoscopio di suoni e atmosfere che veleggiano su territori lontani ma benevoli. Registrato negli studi Electromantic e con la supervisione di Beppe Crovella (Arti & Mestieri), questo nuovo album conferma e rende ancora piu’ dilatate le sonorita’ gia’ ascoltate durante il buon esordio “Terra”. Cieli Sotterranei e’ un disco riposato, dreamy, etereo; ai confini con lo space rock, il nuovo album delle Mappe, con le sue ambientazioni sonore si rivolge in primis a tutti gli appassionati di artisti come Pink Floyd, Ash Ra Tempel, Ozric Tentacles, Vangelis, e Mike Oldfield. Cieli Sotterranei e’ dedicato alla memoria di Benoit Mandelbrot, matematico noto per i suoi lavori sulla geometria frattale: chiave di lettura per comprendere il significato del sottotitolo del disco, ma al tempo stesso e’ cosi’ che possiamo provare a definire il sound di Mappe Nootiche: musica frattale. Si apre con Fratelli d’Italia, con un intro marcatamente floydiano e un finale roboante; Ahimsa e’ un abbraccio, una ballata impreziosita dalla voce del Mahatma Gandhi sullo sfondo a suggellare le atmosfere; si continua con Cieli Sotterranei e dopo 7 minuti di progressione il disco vira su Terra, un approdo, la metafora del riuscire a vedere la terraferma dopo una traversata in mare aperto. Non c’e’ fretta, e i brani si susseguono con calma: cio’ che colpisce e’ l’ambiente sonoro che viene rappresentato, che porta l’ascoltatore a chiudere gli occhi e ad aprire quelli dell’immaginazione. Si arriva cosi’ a La stanza di Mandelbrot, suite di 20 minuti incentrata su un duetto basso – pianoforte di una certa intensita’ emotiva e con un finale corale di tutta la band. Il disco si chiude con una versione reprise di Cieli Sotterranei per un album della durata totale di un\u2019ora di musica progressive rock struggente.
