La formazione guidata dall’eclettico sassofonista svizzero Markus Stauss torna con un nuovo album e una formazione totalmente rinnovata. Dopo le ottime prove in quartetto di “Lontano “(2006) e “en Suite “(2009), Spaltklang vede questa volta tra le sue fila il trombettista austriaco Ritsche Koch, il chitarrista Francesco Zago (già compagno di avventure di Stauss in Yugen e attualmente nel duo Zauss) e il contrabbassista Christian Weber, che con il veterano della formazione Rémy Sträuli compone una sezione ritmica formidabile. La ricchezza dei fiati, le grandi arcate melodiche, gli insoliti intrecci contrappuntistici e le improvvisazioni sostenute da un drive ritmico infuocato rendono l’album estremamente vario e godibilissimo, letteralmente “In between” rock, jazz-rock e l’originale sintesi di linguaggio moderno, folk e medievale di Stauss.<\/p>\n

The band guided by the eclectic Swiss sax player Markus Stauss comes back with a new album and a totally renewed staff. After the last two beautiful work by the original Spaltklang quartet (Lontano, 2006, and en Suite, 2009), now the group included the trumpet player Ritsche Koch, from Austria, guitar player Francesco Zago (Stauss’ mate in Yugen and now in the Zauss duo as well) and the upright bass of Christian Weber (in Kurai with Zago yet, 2009), who forms a tremendous rhythm section with the band’s veteran, the drummer Rémy Sträuli. The richness of sax and trumpet texture, the wide melodic phrasings, the unusual contrapunctal twist, and the improvisations helped by a red-hot rhytmic drive, make this album an extremely various and enjoyable one, literally In Between rock, jazz-rock and the typical modern-medieval Stauss inspiration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
