Listening today to Piero Umiliani\u2019s music is an experience that we wouldn\u2019t hesitate to define \u2018totalizing\u2019 and \u2018revealing\u2019. Totalizing, because Umiliani\u2019s music career has ranged through a myriad of genres; revealing, because any listener can immediately realize how his extensive production was way ahead of its time and still very actual today, now that a few decades have passed.<\/p>\n
\u201cProduzione\u201d is the LP \u201cProblemi d\u2019oggi\u201d opening track, originally released in 1973 on Umiliani\u2019s Liuto Records label under the pseudonym of Zalla, one of many under which the artist used to hide at the time. The track can be found in its original version at the beginning of side B: it\u2019s an amazing mix of acoustic percussion and electronic experimentation, considered by some as the first example of techno \/ trance music ever recorded.<\/p>\n
This song, along with \u201cAttivit\u00e0\u201d, another excerpt from \u201cProblemi d\u2019oggi\u201d, has been \u2018reworked\u2019 by Gerardo Frisina, who cleverly extends the original content by mixing it with contemporary electronic sensations.
