Runaway Totem is a progressive Italian band of long standing, which was formed in 1988 in Riva del Garda (TN) after an accurate project by Cahal de Betel (Roberto Gottardi) e Mimir de Bennu (Rene\u0301 Modena). The Elements which compose Runaway Totem have taken possession of different people and musicians over the time. It is important to understand that their interchange was not due to human conflicts, but rather Runaway Totem’s will.
Each Element, each event, is functional for Runaway Totem’s purpose. As a consequence, when an Element leaves, it is because its function in that place and time has come to an end. So, the Element goes back to its place of origin, whereas the person that hosted it cannot do anything but follow the course of these events and move away from the group. Runaway Totem’s music unravels between rock and prog, experimentation and psychedelics, electronics and avant-garde, diplophonical Voices, surreal Chorales and acoustic instruments, creating a sort of palette of sonorous colours, which are used to describe our modern society. ‘Escape from Totem’ is the programmatic refusal of any kind of idol without it to be understood as an abjuration of religiosity as a vital breath, a spiritual research of a connection with superior worlds, which can be explored and then represented. In fact, Runaway Totem has the precise purpose to stimulate reflexions, deep observations with a mystic and ascensional character. But how? Through a universal language that, similarly to the mathematics, all people can understand: the music. Starting from its own symbol, taken from an ancient tradition, Runaway Totem talks about temporality, dynamism, oppositions which, as in the case of the Yin and the Yang, complete each other describing a perfect harmony of the Whole. In it the dichotomies, of which the modern way of thinking is full, find a different resolution revealing the necessity the one has with respect to the other. Dark and light, life and death. Numerous cultural experiences with extremely ancient and ascetic roots are the background of this extraordinary musical container, which finds its expression in live performances, always refined and unique, but also in a powerful discography formed by 12 Lp. Currently the new work with the title ‘Multiversal matter’ is going to be released. This concept album represents a step forward in Runaway Totem’s sound research, where the tuning has been experimented with the LA’s intonation at 432 Hz (as Giuseppe Verdi suggested) and not at 440 Hz.<\/p>\n

E’ importante capire che il loro avvicendarsi non e\u0300 dato da vicissitudini umane, ma e\u0300 frutto della volonta\u0300 di Runaway Totem. Ogni Elemento, ogni accadimento, e\u0300 funzionale all’obiettivo che Runaway Totem si e\u0300 dato. Ecco quindi che quando un Elemento se ne va, e\u0300 perche\u0300 ha esaurito la sua funzione in quel luogo ed in quel tempo. L’Elemento torna quindi al suo luogo d’origine, mentre la persona che lo ha ospitato non puo\u0300 far altro che seguire questi eventi, allontanandosi cosi\u0300 dal gruppo.
La musica di Runaway Totem si dipana tra rock e prog, tra sperimentazione e psichedelia, tra elettronica e avant-garde, tra Voci diplophoniche, Cori surreali e strumenti acustici creando una tavolozza di colori sonori che descrivono la societa\u0300 attuale. Fuga dal Totem ovvero programmatico rifiuto di qualsiasi idolo senza che questo comporti un’abiura della religiosita\u0300 intesa come anelito, ricerca spirituale di una connessione con mondi superiori da esplorare e poi rappresentare. Tutt’altro: Runaway Totem ha il precisoproposito di stimolare riflessioni e osservazioni approfondite di carattere mistico ed ascensionale. Ma come? Attraverso un linguaggio
universale che, simile alla matematica, possa essere da tutti compreso: la musica. A partire dal suo stesso simbolo, attinto da una tradizione antichissima, Runaway Totem ci parla di temporalita\u0300, di dinamismo, di opposizioni che, come nello Yin e nello Yang, si compenetrano descrivendo una perfetta armonia del Tutto. uniche cosi \u0300 come anche in una poderosa discografia che comprende dodici Lp. Attualmente in uscita il nuovo lavoro dal titolo “MULTIVERSAL MATTER”. Questo concept album e\u0300 un’ulteriore passo in avanti nella ricerca sonora di Runaway Totem dove viene sperimentata l’accordatura con l’intonazione del LA a 432 Hz(come auspicava Giuseppe Verdi) invece che a 440 Hz.<\/p>\n
