Un alone di mistero avvolge le identità di questa formazione proveniente dalla Svizzera tedesca: dei Mythology conosciamo solo la formazione, celata sotto pseudonimi come Athos Sade o Lady Sif, e sappiamo che uno dei membri della band, studioso di storia medievale e letteratura, ha origini italiane. È stato lui (o lei), infatti, a proporre al resto del gruppo l’idea di reinterpretare “Il castello dei destini incrociati” di Italo Calvino e di trasformarlo in un’opera musicale.
Questa nuova lettura del breve romanzo si traduce in una serie di composizioni atipiche, che prendono forma a partire da un progressive rock debitore degli anni Settanta, caratterizzato da un sound che si abbandona spesso a momenti più cupi e duri di matrice doom, senza disdegnare divagazioni in ambito jazz. Una mescolanza tutt’altro che immediata ma che, tuttavia, riesce a rendere bene le atmosfere arcane e mutevoli del libro. I Mythology dividono la propria opera tra passaggi più lineari ed episodi di notevole lunghezza, in cui i musicisti possono permettersi di spaziare, ignorando la struttura classica della canzone, a favore della libertà compositiva assoluta. Il risultato è certamente interessante sebbene non sempre omogeneo. L’episodio che più ci ha colpito è senza dubbio “Missed Chances”, composizione che supera i dieci minuti di durata e che mostra la band nella sua dimensione ideale: chitarre robuste e oscure si alternano a partiture di tastiere e mellotron di scuola progressive, mentre il sax imperversa in una eccellente parentesi jazzata.
La positiva prova dei Mytholohy è indicata soprattutto per coloro che apprezzano formazioni del passato come Black Widow, Atomic Rooster, Van Der Graaf Generator e King Crimson.<\/p>\n

Nobody knows their real names hidden by pseudon<\/span>y<\/span>ms<\/span>Nobody knows their origin<\/span>s<\/span>Nobody knows when this album has been recorded<\/span>Only two things are certai<\/span>n<\/span>:<\/span>First; this album is an incredible mixture of 70s Hard Rock, Progressive Rock with Jazzy touches and <\/span>a mystic<\/span>atmosphere.<\/span>Second; name is MYTHOLOGY<\/span>THE STORY<\/span>Cd <\/span>Audio <\/span>master<\/span>came from Switzerland, canton of Friborg<\/span>. <\/span>We only know they <\/span>are lovers of medieval history at a high level.<\/span>One of them is of Italian origin who studied at the <\/span>Friborg University long time ago, he had a great passion for literature and medieval <\/span>history and he lead the band to the interpretation of “Il Castello dei <\/span>Destini Incrociati” by Italo Calvino, a novel <\/span>set in a magical forest with a <\/span>castle where the traveler will find a surreal and enchanted <\/span>place…and in this <\/span>area there is the castle of Saint Germain where the Hans Rudi <\/span>Giger museum is located…<\/span><\/p>\n
