Multi-instrumentalist and composer Alex Puddu is coming back with his brand new album \u201cDiscotheque\u201d. Recorded between Copenhagen (at Panalama and Sexy Lady Studios) and New York (Soundwork Recording Studios), it consists of a strong set of soulful and melodic tracks with a tight production that brings you back to the late \u201970s and early \u201980s jazz-funk and boogie music scene.<\/p>\n
The album opens up with three singles in a row: \u201cYou Are My Fire\u201d, \u201cBe My Lover\u201d and the UK radio station airplay hit \u201cDon\u2019t Hold Back\u201d, all of them co-written with and featuring Gene Robinson Jr., lead vocalist of the legendary Philadelphia R&B\/funk band Breakwater. Other remarkable special guests on vocals are Duane Hobson, on the jazz-funk finest \u201cBack Against The Wall\u201d and the disco-groove \u201cSaturday Night\u201d, and the young Danish vocalist Sawa on the sweet soul-reggae ballad \u201cRelease The Catch\u201d. The Album contains also some great instrumental tracks, like the title-track that sees Alex Puddu behind the drumkit once again, the sexy-exploitation \u201cLove Affair\u201d, \u201cFight Together\u201d, \u201cNightflight\u201d and \u201cBlue Lines\u201d.<\/p>\n
Two of today\u2019s coolest bassists also played on \u201cDiscotheque\u201d: Paul Westwood, who worked with David Bowie, Nick Kershaw, Elton John and Italian iconic artist Lucio Battisti on the 1978 pop soul masterpiece \u201cUna Donna Per Amico\u201d, and Bob Callero, most known for his activity with Italian \u201870s prog bands \u2013 Franco Battiato\u2019s Osage Tribe, Duello Madre, Il volo \u2013 and pop artists \u2013 Lucio Battisti, Loredana Bert\u00e9.<\/p>\n
