One of the biggest names of this new beginning was La Maschera di Cera, a band that gathered members of the already well-known Finisterre (Fabio Zuffanti, Agostino Macor, Marco Cavani) with the expressive voice of Alessandro Corvaglia, former collaborator of Zuffanti in the project \u201cMerlin &#8211; The Rock Opera\u201d, and Andrea Monetti\u2019s flute (Alhambra, Ku, Embryo).<\/p>\n<p>La Maschera di Cera\u2019s eponymous debut, dated 2002, obtained great and unanimous acclaim at the time of its release, and was hailed as the best Italian prog album since the legendary Alphataurus debut: four long songs in a perfect prog tradition, with a long stand-out title-track that would occupy an entire hypothetical first side of a vinyl record. Acoustic guitars and a constant vintage keyboard soundscape dominate the scene, but there is no shortage of hard-prog moments and long instrumental sections, still highly exciting and engaging today.<\/p>\n<p>An excellent album reissued by AMS Records, the first step in a discography that has obtained international acclaim from critics and audiences, immediately positioning La Maschera di
