A distanza di 8 anni dall’ultima sua pubblicazione discografica ecco nuovamente riaffacciarsi sulla scena musicale il mitico Alberto Radius. Un’artista senza tempo(50 anni di storia al fianco di grandi artisti)che riesce a confezionare un prodotto in linea con i nostri giorni. Testi attualissimi(grazie al geniale intuito del compianto Oscar Avogadro)ma anche di nuovi autori. Le composizioni, gli arrangiamenti e la realizzazione sono di forte impatto emotivo e curate con meticolosa attenzione da Radius, mentre la particolare voce che lo contraddistingue è poi la ciliegina sulla torta che impreziosisce questo lavoro. Alberto inizia la carriera verso la fine degli anni cinquanta, si trasferisce a Milano e poco dopo con il gruppo Quelli viene chiamato per sostituire Franco Mussida. Con questo gruppo, che poco dopo avrebbe cambiato il nome in Premiata Forneria Marconi Radius incide le prime canzoni e sviluppa un suo personale modo di suonare la chitarra. Rientrato Mussida, Radius abbandona il gruppo e forma con Tony Cicco e Gabriele Lorenzi la Formula 3 Dopo l’incontro con Lucio Battisti, il gruppo debutta con l’etichetta appena fondata dal cantautore, la Numero Uno, incidendo un brano dello stesso Battisti, Questo folle sentimento. Il primo album Dies irae è del 1970 ed è proprio il suono della chitarra di Radius a costituire la trama dell’album. Due anni dopo Radius incide il primo album da solista, Radius cui contribuiscono alcuni celebri strumentisti della musica rock italiana degli anni settanta come Demetrio Stratos Giulio Capiozzo Patrick Djivas (che poco dopo daranno vita agli Area), Franz Di Cioccio e Giorgio Piazza della Premiata Forneria Marconi , Gianni Dall’Aglio e Vince Tempera Nel 1974, dopo lo scioglimento della Formula 3, Radius – insieme a Mario Lavezzi, Vince Tempera, Gianni Dall’Aglio (ex Ribelli), Bob Callero e all’altro ex Formula 3 Gabriele Lorenzi- fonda un nuovo gruppo,Il Volo, prodotto dal duo Mogol-Battisti, che incide due album e che si caratterizza per le sonorità mediterranee. Dopo lo scioglimento de Il Volo, nel 1976, Radius incide il suo secondo album solista, Che cosa sei, che segna una svolta musicale nella sua carriera. L’anno dopo esce il suo album di maggior successo, Carta straccia grazie soprattutto a Nel ghetto intenso brano rock. In contemporanea inizia un’intensa carriera di session man che lo vede al fianco dei maggiori cantanti italiani, spesso anche in veste di autore e produttore. Nel 1986 costituisce il gruppo Cantautores con cui partecipa a varie trasmissioni televisive di revival musicale e con cui incide due album (Cantautores e La terra siamo noi) in cui convivono vecchi successi e nuovi brani. A cavallo tra gli anni ottanta e novanta partecipa al programma televisivo di Italia 1 Una rotonda sul mare, condotto da Red Ronnie, nella prima edizione come leader e lead guitarist per accompagnare i cantanti in gara.Doveroso ricordare che Radius ha contribuito nel suo studio personale “Studio Radius”alla realizzazione dei grandi successi di Franco Battiato(L’era del cinghiale bianco, Patriots, La Voce del Padrone, L’arca di Noè, Orizzonti perduti, Mondi Lontanissimi ecc.) e ultimamente ha collaborato anche con Gianluca Grignani.La produzione discografica di questo lavoro dal titolo “Banca d’Italia” è a cura di Beppe Aleo label manager di Videoradio, mentre la presentazione inserita sul cd e nell’Lp è stata redatta da Red Ronnie.
