The Snow Goose is a tale about the friendship between a crippled painter, Rhayader, who lives alone in an old lighthouse of the Great Marsh, and Fritha, a child looking for help in order to heal a wounded Snow Goose. This allows Fritha to see beyond Rhayader’s grotesque appearance and offers him the chance to re-discover his humanity, when the dramatic course of history knocks inexorably at the Great Marsh’s doors…

In 1975 the UK progressive band Camel publishes the whole instrumental record Music Inspired by The Snow Goose, which is inspired by the short novel of the American author Paul Gallico, The Snow Goose, published in 1941. Camel’s work is one of the creative heights of the ’70: aninnovative musical research meets the enchanted atmospheres of Gallico.
Inspired by… Magnetic Sound Machine plays The Snow Goose (Lizard Cd 0101, released 12th October 2013) brings back together the Camel’s music and Gallico’s words: the re-proposal of theprogressive masterwork is integrated with readings translated and adapted from the original text of the American narrator.

Alessandro Caldato, Giacomo Girotto, Stefano Volpato and Riccardo Pestrin are Magnetic Sound Machine since 2005. Their records Chromatic Tunes (2008) and Chances & Accidents (2010), all published by Lizard Records, gained an excellent feedback from audience and critique. CT was nominated for Best Recording and Best Debut Record at the Progawards 2008; CA won the Toast Prize 2010 (best instrumental Italian band) at the Indipendent Labels Meeting (M.E.I. – Meeting Etichette Indipendenti, Faenza 2010).

The Snow Goose narra dell’amicizia tra il pittore storpio Rhayader, deciso a vivere in solitudine presso un vecchio faro della Grande Palude, e Fritha, una bimba che ha bisogno d’aiuto per curare un’oca ferita. Ciò permetterà a Fritha di vedere oltre l’aspetto di Rhayader e darà a quest’ultimo l’opportunità di riscoprire la propria umanità, quando il drammatico corso della Storia busserà inesorabilmente alle porte della Grande Palude…
