This is the second volume in the “Freedom Jazz Dance” series, now available again on vinyl!
Extending the heritage left from the first chapter of the “Freedom Jazz Dance” series, Schema Records presents the “Book II” volume which included, back in 2005 when it was originally released for the first time, various unreleased tracks from Schema and ‘non-Schema’ renowned artists.
The FJD concept comes from an idea of Luciano Cantone, aiming at offering ‘New Standards’ that can be understood and responsively absorbed by new young generations of music listeners. The title comes from a Eddie Harris’ composition and contains the keywords that perfectly describe the essence of these compilations: the sense of artistic “Freedom” that constitutes a basic ingredient for “Jazz” and the natural impulse of movement, “Dance”.
While the first volume focused more on the leading Schema artists Nicola Conte, Gerardo Frisina and Gianluca Petrella, this follow-up showcases a sort of ‘underground side’ of the record label’s roster with Soulstance, Invisible Session, Quartetto Moderno and Quintetto Lo Greco, together with the elegance of an already mature Stefano “S-Tone Inc.” Tirone, who’s still today one of the most important names and producers in Schema Records’ catalogue.
