Pianist / composer Luca Scherani is back on track with his new solo album, after many years spent into the prolific progressive scene in Liguria, a constant reference point for any prog-follower. This scene is now enjoying a second new life, thanks to a long series of new talented musicians, including Scherani himself, and a strong passion that the passing of time didn’t hurt.
The album is sung in italian and stands on a prominent prog-rock basis, though it contains strong influences coming from Scherani’s classical / symphonic background, and indulges in Kraftwerk-ish electronic contaminations. Songwriting and arrangements, remarking the classical music side of the album, are mainly based on the counterpoint technique, in a non-stop dialogue among the parties. A sort of concept album about Life and innocence, in a remarkable and balanced mix of musical genres, which draw on disparate influences.
There’s a long list of participating people here, a real parade of Italian Prog VIP’s: Fabio Zuffanti (with whom Scherani has played in Höstsonaten, Finisterre, Aries, Merlin and so on…), Bob Callero (Il Volo, Duello Madre, Lucio Battisti), Andrea Maddalone (New Trolls), Matteo Nahum (La Maschera di Cera), Sylvia Trabucco, Joanne Roan, Chiara Alberti (Höstsonaten) e many many others!
