*HIDDEN GEMS* IS A CINEVOX RECORD SERIES DEDICATED TO
CULT AND OBSCURE SOUNDTRACKS COLLECTORS.
“Gungala La Pantera Nuda” (Gungala, the Naked Panther) is a 1968 motion picture directed by Ruggero Deodato, starring Kitty Swan, a then-famous Danish model and acrobat who had a brief acting career in several Italian films produced during those years. This is one of many examples of jungle movies from that era, set in a wild, hostile and mysterious world.
These moods have been excellently recreated by Sandro Brugnolini, Luigi Malatesta and Franco Bixio, a trio of composers who, in “Gungala”, treat listeners and viewers to an incredibly varied soundtrack, starting with the surprising spiritual Afro-jazz of the opening track “Afro Free”, before shifting to soul, rhythm & blues, bossa nova, lounge, tribal percussion and orchestrations worthy of a Hollywood blockbuster: a variety of musical genres that enhances the quality of the final result.
The soundtrack for “Gungala La Pantera Nuda” is therefore a true hidden gem, originally released by Cinevox in an extremely rare vinyl edition, now finally shining once again in the same format, both musically and visually, thanks to a remastered audio and a brand new artwork.
First LP reissue ever on clear orange vinyl. Audio remastered by Claudio Fuiano.
