La band si chiama Verganti, concettualmente un gruppo di persone che “bacchettano” le persone con gli occhi troppo chiusi, in modo che vedano la verità davanti ai loro occhi. Formatosi nel 2015, ha trovato nel rock progressive di derivazione anni 70, una matrice forte e comune. Atlas, loro primo album, è un “concept album”, totalmente auto-prodotto, che attraverso dieci capitoli conduce l’ascoltatore indietro nel tempo, quando ancora l’uomo e la donna, come li conosciamo oggi, non esistevano.
I libri di Mauro Biglino sono fonte d’ispirazione di tutto l’album. Dice di loro lo scrittore: I Verganti tracciano nel loro concept album “Atlas”, un percorso che svela, con parole, suoni ed emozioni, la strada che l’uomo ha percorso e che deve portare ad una nuova consapevolezza: la coscienza di chi siamo, al di fuori delle favole consolatorie che sono state elaborate per tenere l’umanità chiusa nei recinti che sono rassicuranti ma anche stringenti, perché ci impediscono una vera, piena e concreta realizzazione di noi stessi. I Verganti “vergano” cioè “bacchettano” le persone con gli occhi troppo chiusi, in modo che vedano la verità davanti ai loro occhi: un obiettivo davvero importante.
Da un punto di vista più strettamente musicale, Atlas rappresenta il tentativo dei Verganti di proporre musica “colta” in un mondo prettamente “usa e getta”. Un obiettivo che, rispettando i canoni del rock progressivo, utilizza la melodia del cantato italiano come valore costante in tutti i pezzi. Questa scelta rende la proposta dei Verganti accessibile a un vasto pubblico, pur senza coercizioni di stampo “commerciale”. L’ album è suonato e interpretato, ricercando il sound degli anni ’70, guardando a gruppi come i New Trolls di “Concerto Grosso”, alle Orme e agli Uriah Heep degli esordi. Ma anche al neo-prog di band attuali come Mystery e Iluvatar.
I Verganti sono Adolfo Pacchioni (composizioni, chitarre e cori), Gianni Vazzana (tastiere e cori), Gigi Morello (batteria e arrangiamenti ritmici), Giulia Cardia (voce solista e cori), Paolo Bellardi (basso) e Savino De Palo (voce solista).

The band is called Verganti, a group of people who “scold” people with eyes too closed, so they see the truth before their eyes. Trained in 2015, he found in the progressive rock of the 70s, a strong and common matrix. Atlas, their first album, is a “concept album”, totally self-produced, which through ten chapters leads the listener back in time, when still man and woman, as we know them today, did not exist.
Mauro Biglino’s books are the source of inspiration for the whole album. The writer says of them: Verganti trace in their concept album “Atlas”, a path that reveals, with words, sounds and emotions, the path that man has travelled and that must lead to a new awareness: the consciousness of who we are, outside the comforting stories that have been elaborated to keep humanity enclosed in the enclosures that are reassuring but also stringent, because they prevent us from real, full and concrete realization of ourselves. The Verganti “vergano” that is “wandering” people with eyes too closed, so that they see the truth before their eyes: a very important goal.
From a more strictly musical point of view, Atlas represents Verganti’s attempt to propose “cultured” music in a purely “throwaway” world. A goal that, respecting the canons of progressive rock, uses the melody of the Italian cantata as a constant value in all the pieces. This choice makes the Verganti proposal accessible to a wide audience, even without coercion of a “commercial” nature. The album is played and interpreted, researching the sound of the ’70s, looking at groups like the New Trolls of “Concerto Grosso”, Le Orme and the Uriah Heep of the beginning. But also to the neo-prog of current bands like Mystery and Iluvatar.
